POWER OF ATTORNEY REGISTRATION FEE REFUND – are you eligible?
Paul / 0 Comments /The Government has announced that due to a reduction in operating costs, you could be entitled to a refund if you registered a Lasting Power of Attorney or Enduring Power of Attorney between April 2013 & March 2017.
If you didn’t benefit from the reduction in fees, your claim will depend on the registration date & will be in the region of £34 – £54 plus interest at a rate of 0.5%
If eligible you will need to make your claim by 31 January 2021.
Who can claim a refund?
- the person who made the power of attorney (Donor)
- the individual appointed by the donor in an LPA or EPA to make decisions on their behalf (Attorney)
The refund must be paid to the Donor & you only need to make one claim per donor, even if you made more than one power of attorney.
How to claim
- on line (https://claim-power-of-attorney-refund.service.gov.uk/start) This will take about 10 minutes & involves completing an on-line application form
- by phone if you or the donor do not have access to the internet 0300 456 0300 (choose option 6)
