Andrew Morris

Andrew Morris FALA – Solicitor – Senior Partner

Area of expertise: Business Affairs and Succession, Trusts, Commercial and Agricultural Property.

Background: Living in Ross-on- Wye Andrew is the firm’s senior partner. He has more than twenty years experience advising on substantial property and business transactions for clients. With a particular interest in agri-business Andrew enjoys acting for small and medium sized commercial enterprises and their owners. Succession to the family business, asset protection and diversification are all matters which allow him to use his experience in trusts, tax and efficient business structures.

Andrew’s property experience ranges from acquisitions and disposals of farms and commercial premises to leases of units, shops and licenced premises together with Farm Business Tenancies and AHA Tenancies.

A member of the Law Society Private Client Section, Andrew also advises on Wills, Powers of Attorney and acts as Executor and Trustee for clients when required.

Andrew’s community and charity work has included appointments as a Charitable Housing Association Director, a Chair of School Governors and advising local sports clubs, charities and community associations in the not for profit sector. He is also the current President of the Herefordshire Breconshire and Radnorshire Incorporated Law Society.

Deborah Bullock

Deborah Bullock – Legal Executive – Partner

Area of expertise: Conveyancing and Land Law

Background: Deborah is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives with 17 years experience in residential conveyancing. Whilst qualifying as a Legal Executive she worked as a volunteer with the Citizens Advice Bureau and from there she joined another local firm of solicitors. She joined Okells in 2004 and became a partner in 2012 and is head of Residential Conveyancing at the firm.

She has lived and worked in Herefordshire for 27 years having moved to Ross on Wye from Lydney in 1990. Her local knowledge benefits clients by easing the often stressful house buying and selling process.

Deborah specialises in all aspects of residential conveyancing and property matters including Freehold and Leasehold sales and purchases, mortgages and re-mortgages, property transfers, tenancy agreements and auctions.

Gary Ellis

Gary Ellis – Solicitor – Consultant

Area of expertise: Property

Background: Gary graduated with an honours degree in law and after training with a large Surrey firm was admitted as a solicitor in 1975. Shortly afterwards he moved to West Gloucestershire and for many years headed a Solicitors Practice from the firms office in Lydney.

Gary is an experienced property lawyer acting for private individuals and business throughout England and Wales. His clients include builders/developers for whom he has set up and administered freehold and leasehold developments and include some of the area’s principal commercial landlords. He handles the property aspects of business sales and acquisitions in conjunction with the firms commercial lawyers.

Gary has acted for and advised a wide range of organisations including prominent local charities, local Councils, cultural, sporting and other voluntary groups. This aspect of his work epitomises the firm’s commitment to contributing fully to the public life of the community.

Nigel Hodgson

Nigel Hodgson – Legal Executive (FCILEX) – Associate

Area of expertise: Property (Residential and Commercial Conveyancing) & Probate.

Background: Nigel graduated with an honours degree in law and was admitted as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 1986.

Nigel is an experienced property lawyer. He undertakes both residential and commercial property transactions. Nigel was instrumental in it becoming one of the first Solicitors Practices in the country to qualify for membership of the Law Society Conveyancing Quality Scheme. On the commercial side he represents builders/developers and has advised both landlords and tenants of commercial leasehold premises.

Background: Carolyn was admitted as a solicitor in 1989. Having started as a trainee solicitor, she has worked for the firm for many years and is now a consultant specialising in Employment law and company and commercial matters. This includes advice on all aspects of employment law , commercial agreements and sales and acquisitions of businesses. A resident of Monmouth, Carolyn is available to see clients at our Ross and Lydney offices or client premises, if preferred.

Lisa Adams Solicitor

Lisa Adams – LLB – Solicitor – Commercial Property

Area of Expertise: Advising on a wide range of Commercial Property matters including –  Leases, Licences of business premises, Buying & selling of property or land with a commercial use, Development Agreements, Building leases & Overage Agreements

Background: Having been admitted as a solicitor in 2006, Lisa spent 6 years working in Local Government at District Level dealing with a wide variety of property matters which included large scale regeneration projects & acting as legal adviser to the Planning Committee. She returned to private practice in 2016, dealing with commercial property & planning matters.

Lisa is also qualified as a Solicitor Advocate (Civil.)

As a keen member of a local Athletics Club, Lisa regularly assists with the organisation of the local weekly park run. She has been a School Governor & is both Chair & a panel member for the Local Authority Schools Admission Appeals Panel.

Having lived in the Forest of Dean all her life, Lisa has a  good knowledge of that area. She is based at our Ross office but is available for appointments in either office.

James Rogers – LLB – Solicitor – Family Law

Area of expertise: Divorce, Financial Remedy, Child Arrangements, Cohabitees, Pre & Post Nuptial Arrangements and Domestic Violence

Background: Living in Herefordshire, Jim has more than 30 years experience of helping clients with all aspects of divorce and family law. He is a member of Resolution, whose main objective is to assist clients in reaching amicable and caring solutions to their problems.

Jim’s considerable financial experience has also included advising on farming cases, family businesses, pensions, trusts and high net worth cases, sometimes with an international element. He has practised extensively in the Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Family Courts when necessary.

Personal interests include most sports, in particular, rugby, football, cricket and tennis together with local choral singing.

Background: Graeme is a consultant to the firm specialising in business law and particularly the buying, selling and financing of businesses. Graeme qualified in 1974 having trained initially in Hay-on-Wye and latterly in Bristol. He was a partner for many years in Francis & Co in Chepstow, Lydney and Newport before moving to practice in central London.

Graeme lives near Chepstow and primarily advises clients on business law, banking and fund creation and administration. His clients are very varied in size and business sector
